Frequently asked questions
Short and clear: fire safety requirements for a business.
What does the free assessment include, and is it really without obligation?
We come to you, look over the site and tell you what is in order, what is not and what should be done. You receive a list of shortcomings and an exact monthly price. Free of charge, with no paperwork and no obligation. You do not even have to be there; someone to show us around is enough. What happens next is up to you.
Someone already services my fire extinguishers. Why do I need you?
Servicing extinguishers is one line among many. Fire safety also means instructions, briefings, evacuation drills and plans, electrical installation checks, ventilation, documentation and deadlines. None of the individual providers is responsible for the whole picture. We take over everything under one contract, one responsibility and one monthly fee.
What happens if VUGD comes?
We are there. As your responsible person we receive the inspector, answer questions and present documentation that is already in order, instead of searching for it during the inspection. Since 2017, our clients have passed VUGD inspections the first time.
If you are our responsible person, who is liable before the law?
Legal liability for the site stays with the company owner or manager. It cannot be outsourced, and anyone who claims otherwise is not telling the truth. What can be handed over is the work: we take on the role of the responsible person, do everything required and keep the site in a condition where liability never becomes a problem.
Which fire safety requirements apply to my business specifically?
It depends on the site: how many people can be there at the same time, what the business does, the building and the equipment. For example, an evacuation plan is mandatory at sites where more than 50 people can be present at once, while a fire safety instruction and staff briefings apply to practically every business with premises and employees. We tell you the exact list for your site during the free assessment.
What is VUCAP and from which year does it apply to my business?
VUCAP is the unified civil protection and fire safety management platform. The site's responsible person will have to submit information on the site's fire safety status there every year by 31 December. For state and municipal sites the obligation begins on 1 January 2027, for all other sites from 1 January 2028. For a private business it is not this year's task, but it is worth preparing in good time.
How large is the penalty for failing to comply with fire safety requirements?
Under the new Fire Safety Law, the penalty for a company that violates fire safety requirements is from 280 to 1400 euros. If the violation led to a fire, the penalty is from 1400 to 4300 euros. The most serious risk, however, is not the penalty but the insurer refusing to pay compensation if it turns out that fire safety requirements were not met.
What changes with the new 2025 fire safety law, and when?
The Fire Safety, Firefighting and Rescue Work Law entered into force on 13 November 2025. It requires a written contract with the fire safety service provider, annual reporting on the VUCAP platform from 2027 and 2028, and sets requirements for the provider's professional qualifications from 1 January 2027. Cabinet Regulation No. 238 remains in force until the new regulations are adopted, but no later than 1 January 2027.
Who in a company has to be the person responsible for fire safety?
Every site must have a designated person responsible for fire safety. If between 10 and 50 people can be on site at the same time, this person must have completed the 20-hour VUGD programme, and larger and more complex sites have higher requirements. This role can be outsourced, and that is exactly what we take on.
How often do fire extinguishers have to be inspected?
Fire extinguishers require technical servicing once a year, and a hydraulic test every five years. We track the deadlines for you and carry out the servicing on time.
How often must staff receive fire safety briefings?
Staff fire safety briefings must be held at least once a year. At sites where more than 50 people can be present at once, practical evacuation drills must also be organised once a year. We run them and document them.
Who must have an evacuation plan?
An evacuation plan is mandatory at sites where more than 50 people can be present at once. Such sites also need an action plan in case of fire.
We have fewer than 10 employees. Do the requirements apply to us as well?
Yes. Fire safety requirements apply to every business that has premises and employees, regardless of size. At smaller sites the person responsible for fire safety may be an employee without special fire safety training, but compliance itself is just as mandatory, and the penalty is the same.
